Fantastic quality and stylish too
After reading many, many reviews about various freeview boxes, I recently purchased this Sony digital Freeview box. I have been using the box non-stop for the past two weeks and am very glad I made the purchase.
Set-up was very simple and took about two minutes - basically, a case of plugging in the leads then letting the unit perform a quick auto-tune scan then off you go! Reception quality is outstanding (as you would expect) and if you have other Sony devices (tv, video, etc) they can all be operated from the single remote control supplied.
The Electronic Program Guide is clear and simple to use (similar to the Sky system) and includes the facility to set up favourite channels, to save time scanning. Both the digital tv and radio stations give onscreen information about what you are watching/listening to.
The unit is small, light and stylish and comes with a vertical stand, so you can stand it next to your PS2 should you have one! This freeview box is the usual top quality/design from Sony and at a good price too. Highly recommended.

Great picture and Smartlink too.
I've been very impressed with this Sony freeview box and would recommend it happily to anyone else. The tuning and setup process was
straightforward and well described in the manuual. The postcode checker for reception on the freeview website suggested I'd need an
aerial upgrade, but the reception is excellent, both in terms of the observed picture/sound and the signal strength and quality you can see
from the engineering part of the onscreen menu. So I wouldn't rush out and get a new aerial before trying it out first :-)
The device has some nice touches - a good EPG (soon to be extended to 7 days after a trial in Wales I think), a favourite channels
button on the remote, and some dedicated buttons for control of the TV including a mute button. The most compelling reason to buy
this device instead of the other available boxes is that it's the only one for sale in the UK at the moment with the SmartLink or
P50 support. This means that provided your VCR or DVDR has this support (check the manual because there are a welter of different
trademarks for the same technology) you can set a program to record via the freeview EPG and at the appropriate time the STB will
turn on the VCR/DVDR and tune it to the correct digital channel. It adds an extra 5 minutes on the end in case there is a slight
overrun. Great for all those obscure films on BBC4...
