Written in the early 1970s, but still containing an important message for Christians today. The book begins with a historical critique of theological liberalism, and shows how it differs so much with historical biblical Christianity. Schaeffer then goes on, by reference to the bride and bridegroom theme from Ephesians 5, to show the need for the Christian church to display purity, both in doctrine and in practice. The book then ends with a set of principles that should govern the behaviour and attitudes of Christians. In this book we can see the need for Christians to display both truth and love before a watching world. This is a brief, yet important book, with many important truths for the evangelical Christian church today. Hopefully, it will stir up many complacent Christians and churches! Well worth getting hold of.
