1 starNo starNo starNo starNo star    More Tripe!

Where do they get this rubbish from?! LOL
Jesus is one of the most important prophets of both Islam and Christianity. The author has no understanding of the islamic religion (based on what he has written). Islam holds firm to the belief that Jesus is a prophet. But it's understanding of the nature of god is different. Islam believes in the perfectness and oneness of god.
As creator of everything if it is his will it happens. They believe that the christian interpretation that the spirit had to go into mary suggests that god is not perfect and all powerful but requires physical or spiritual action to perform his will.... oh my gosh I just realised i'm going on a bit!
Islam (the religion) is the message and should not be judged on the actions of a tiny proportion of misguided muslims (the people). It seems as if there are increasing numbers of books written by authors with no understanding of islam.
I suggest rather than reading a book like this for an understanding of islam read the yusuf ali's translation of Quran with analytical notes. For an understanding of christianity read the bible although there are many versions so it is difficult for to suggest a particularly good one...
Finally to dugroberts, I would be interested to know which books you have been studying about Islam, as your understanding in your reviews has been flawed to say the least.

    1 star1 star1 star1 starNo star    A great book

This is a good introduction to Islam (if you don't know anything about it), contrasting it with the central concepts of Christianity.

I agree with the first reviewer, afpalmer2, that it is a book for Christians. I thought this was fairly clear from the synopsis, so I don't know what he was expecting. He is right that some of the comments are politically incorrect, but Pawson is trying to stay true to the Bible and his own faith, neither of which are PC! As a person who studies the Bible quite a bit, I can't say I found any of his arguments weak. Dugroberts' review is far more accurate. This book is a 'wake-up call to Christians'.

A clear, well-written book, in harmony with the Bible, looking at the serious threat Islam poses to Western Christians: where it differs from Christianity, and in reply, what Christians need to focus on.

1 star1 starNo starNo starNo star    A book for christians...

I was expecting an unbiased book presenting both religions in an equal light.

This is a book for the Christian - which they will find useful to reinforce what they already believe. The author accepts his lack of political correctness, and to a large extent disrepsect towards Islam, presenting the religion in a very negative light ignoring its huge similarities with Christianity.

The book does provide an interesting discussion which is very relevent as more people attend Mosques in the UK than do church. It is easy reading, yet I found myself (a searcher for faith) to be disgusted by many comments and able to see through many of the arguments proposed even with my mediocre knowledge of Christianity.

The book does provide a few interesting insights into Islam - but I am sure there are many books that do it better.
